Think about the answer to this question:
What would I do if I couldn’t fail?
Once you think about what you would do, I want you to imagine what your life would be like. What emotions would you feel? How would your children feel? Picture yourself and your family smiling and covered with the joy of your family’s ideal life. Now, I want you to open your eyes. Can you realistically get there given your current circumstances?
I know that you are thinking, “Aisha, that’s tough.” That may be tough, but I say it with love. I want you to have the life of your dreams. I want you to wake up every day with gratitude and a smile. I don’t want you to hate Monday. I truly want you to love Mondays as much as you do Fridays. I want your children to be happy. I want you to be able to Christmas shop without the stress or send your children to college debt-free. However, that starts with a solid financial plan. That starts with you.
Financial plans shouldn’t be scary or restrictive. A financial plan is merely a blueprint that gives you a path to do the things that you want to do and to live your ideal life. You wouldn’t build a house without a blueprint, so why build a life without one?
That’s why I am super excited about the upcoming event, Rainbow PUSH Money Matters sponsored by Chevrolet. Rainbow PUSH Coalition and Chevrolet have teamed up to host a series of FREE workshops to educate African American consumers on financial literacy and assist participants in developing concrete steps toward financial security. This event will be in Detroit on October 1st from 10am – 2pm at the Wayne County Community College in the Frank Hayden Room (801 W. Fort Street Detroit, MI 48226). It will be in Atlanta next on Saturday, October 22nd.
The event will feature nationally known financial experts who will be educating you about:
- How to fund college
- Understanding and improving your credit
- The benefits of long-term money management
- Building your personal brand
These are the critical topics that you need to learn so you can build your financial house with bricks and not straw.
Regardless of where you are in your financial journey or level of knowledge, there will be something there for you. Did I mention that they will have brunch too? This event will leave your belly and your mind full and give you the tools you need to be financially healthy so you can position yourself to live the life you deserve.
After having twins, I’ve been re-evaluating my spending and financial plans so I can make sure I manage my money in a way that allows me to build a financial legacy for my children. Therefore, I’m going to be at the Money Matters event with my pen and paper in hand taking a ton of notes.
Whether or not you’re a parent, if you need to learn more about finances make sure you RSVP.
